We dispense NHS prescriptions and private & veterinary prescriptions
We try to keep prescription medicines that are commonly prescribed in Ipswich, in stock. If we don’t have it we can normally obtain it by the next working day and if you are unable to return to the pharmacy to collect, we can normally deliver it to you. If you regularly require the same medication please let us know and we will ensure we keep your medication in stock.
How much will I pay for my NHS prescription?
The current charge per item is £8.40 (1st April 2016). Most working adults need to pay this fee, but you are exempt if you fall into one of these categories:
The patient doesnt have to pay because he/she:
A. is under 16 years of age
B. is 16,17 or 18 and in full-time education
C. is 60 years of age or over
D. has a valid maternity exemption certificate
E. has a valid medical exemption certificate
F. has a valid prescription pre-payment certificate
G. has a valid war pension certificate
L. is named on a current HC2 charges certificate
X. was prescribed free-of-charge contraceptives
H. gets income support or income-related employment and support allowance
K. gets income-based jobseekers allowance
M. is entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate
S. has a partner who gets pension credit guarantee credit (PCGC)
Pre-payment prescription certificate
If you do not qualify for exemption, but regularly have 4 or more items in 3 months, a pre-payment prescription certificate could be the answer. You can pay just £29.10 (1st April 2014) for a 3 month card. This will cover the cost of ALL your NHS prescription items for the full 3 month period. 1 year cover is also avaliable for £104.00 (1st April 2014) and covers ALL your prescription items for a 12 month period.
Free repeat prescription collection service
We also offer a repeat prescription collection service. Simply fill out an authorisation form in store and let us know what medications from your repeat you require. Our driver will take your repeats to your surgery and collect your new prescription within 2-3 working days (surgery allowing). We will then fill your prescription so its ready for you to collect. We can even send you a text, e-mail or even a good old-fashioned phone call to let you know its ready. Simple! If you need us to, we can deliver your completed prescription to your home or place of work (signature for receipt will be required).
