NHS Prescriptions

We dispense NHS prescriptions and private & veterinary prescriptions

We try to keep prescription medicines that are commonly prescribed in Ipswich, in stock. If we don’t have it we can normally obtain it by the next working day and if you are unable to return to the pharmacy to collect, we can normally deliver it to you. If you regularly require the same medication please let us know and we will ensure we keep your medication in stock.

How much will I pay for my  NHS prescription?

Prescriptions charges are currently £9.65 per item, which is subject to change. Most working adults need to pay this fee, but you are exempt if you fall into one of these categories:

The patient doesnt have to pay because he/she:
A. is under 16 years of age
B. is 16,17 or 18 and in full-time education
C. is 60 years of age or over
D. has a valid maternity exemption certificate
E. has a valid medical exemption certificate
F. has a valid prescription pre-payment certificate
G. has a valid war pension certificate
L. is named on a current HC2 charges certificate
X. was prescribed free-of-charge contraceptives
H. gets income support or income-related employment and support allowance
K. gets income-based jobseekers allowance
M. is entitled to, or named on, a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate
S. has a partner who gets pension credit guarantee credit (PCGC)
W. HRT only prescription prepayment certificate

Pre-payment prescription certificate

If you do not qualify for exemption, but regularly have 4 or more items in 3 months, a pre-payment prescription certificate could be the answer. You can pay just £31.25 for a 3 month card. This will cover the cost of ALL your NHS prescription items for the full 3 month period. 1 year cover is also avaliable for £111.60 and covers ALL your prescription items for a 12 month period. HRT PPC: £19.30.

Free repeat prescription collection service

We also offer a repeat prescription service. When collecting your prescription, please advise us if you would like us to repeat your medications so we may file on the correct date for the following month and send this to your surgery via email request. Your new prescription should be with the pharmacy within 2-3 working days and then should be ready for collection in a further 1-2 working days. We can even send a text message to let you know it is ready.

We also have a free delivery service available on a Tuesday and Thursday morning each week.

If you’re unable to collect during our opening hours or be home for our delivery service, this isn’t a problem! Thanks to our automated prescription-collection system, as long as we have a mobile number for you, you can request that your prescription go into our ‘robot’ for collection at any time of the day. You will have a personalised PIN number sent to your phone and you will have 7 days from receipt of the text message to collect your prescription.
